Jacob Guzman was born in 1994 in Austin, TX. Early influences of his include his environment, street art, historical writing on the Expressionism movement and the Harlem Renaissance. In Guzman’s work you will see aspects of daily inner-city experiences, cultural values and spirituality. More contemporary inspirations include theological philosophy, philanthropy and the sounds of Jazz and Soul music. From the improvisation, to the album covers, to the lives of the artists themselves, he pieces these together to create a coherent story that relates to his own. Guzman aims to create work that resonates with both the inner child and the determined adult, bridging the gap between the two that is often lost as we grow. He is self-taught in various mediums and typically starts his process with upcycled or raw materials. He’s currently residing and creating in Austin, TX.
